Wrinkle Reduction Q & A

What causes wrinkles?

As a natural part of the aging process, your skin gets thinner, drier, and less elastic. This can cause wrinkles, particularly around expressive facial muscles, such as near the eyes and mouth. The neck and forearms also commonly display wrinkles more prominently.

Sun exposure is a common cause or exacerbator of wrinkles, as well as factors such as smoking, overexposure to ultraviolet light, repeated facial expressions and movements, and environmental pollutants.

Thanks to advances in modern technology, wrinkle reduction is now more than a possibility. New laser systems can reduce wrinkles and even completely eliminate them.

There are also ways you can prevent wrinkles, including:

  • Eating a healthy, balanced diet
  • Avoiding smoking
  • Using sunscreen regularly
  • Using moisturizer regularly
  • Wearing protective clothing in the sun

What is Pellevé?

Pellevé is a laser technology that reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It's a noninvasive, quick, in-office procedure that doesn't involve needles or surgery. Pellevé is safe, effective, and there's no downtime so that you can go right back to your daily activities after. When the laser stimulates collagen production, the process continues for weeks following your procedure.

Dr. Anguiano recommends a series of treatments for optimal results — typically three to five treatments about four weeks apart, depending on your skin type and the depth of your wrinkles.

Many patients describe it as feeling like a warm stone massage. There might be slight redness on the treated area, but this is a result of your skin’s elevated temperature and subside on its own.

To treat the entire face takes under an hour, and specific areas can be treated in under half an hour. Dr. Anguiano walks you through the process and helps you to decide if Pellevé is right for you.

How does Pellevé work?

During the treatment, Dr. Anguiano or a member of his staff glides the handheld device over the treatment area. The system delivers radiofrequency energy into the deeper layers of your skin to promote your body’s natural healing ability and the production of collagen.

Pelleve gives you an instant glow and smooths and plumps your skin, reducing wrinkles and yielding a natural, toned, younger-looking appearance, and tighter skin. To learn about Pellevé, call or click to book an appointment with Dr. Anguiano and his team.
